Accessibility at VelaClip

VelaClip is committed to making our website, Mac application, documentation, and digital materials useful to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.

Accessibility is ongoing work. We are continuing to identify barriers, improve the product, and learn from the people who use it.

Our accessibility goal

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.2 Level AA, as our accessibility target for the VelaClip website and web-based experiences.

For the VelaClip Mac app, we also look to Apple's accessibility guidance and macOS assistive technologies when designing and evaluating the experience, including keyboard navigation, VoiceOver, Voice Control, sufficient contrast, reduced motion, and information that is not communicated through color alone.

We have not yet completed an independent accessibility audit and do not currently claim that every VelaClip experience fully conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This statement describes our current approach, areas we are evaluating, and how to contact us when something does not work for you.

What this statement covers

This statement applies to digital experiences controlled and maintained by VelaClip, including:

  • the public VelaClip website at velaclip.com
  • VelaClip account, signup, download, and contact flows
  • the VelaClip Mac application
  • VelaClip Help Center articles and product documentation, including pages we publish as that documentation grows
  • VelaClip-produced downloadable documents, images, videos, and email communications

Third-party platforms, integrations, embedded services, social networks, AI providers, app-download infrastructure, and external websites may have their own accessibility features and limitations. This statement covers the parts of those journeys that VelaClip controls.

How we are working to improve accessibility

These are practices VelaClip uses and continues to improve. They are not a claim that every item is already complete across the website, Help Center, and Mac app:

  • Using semantic page structure and meaningful heading order
  • Supporting keyboard navigation and visible keyboard focus
  • Providing descriptive labels for controls and form fields
  • Using text alternatives for meaningful images
  • Avoiding color as the only method of communicating information
  • Maintaining readable text and interface contrast
  • Supporting browser zoom and responsive reflow
  • Respecting reduced-motion preferences where motion is used
  • Providing captions or text alternatives for VelaClip-produced video when appropriate
  • Writing clear form instructions and understandable error messages
  • Reviewing new shared components for accessibility
  • Combining automated testing with keyboard and assistive-technology testing

Accessibility in the VelaClip Mac app

VelaClip is a macOS desktop application. The current public product supports macOS 13 or newer on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

We are evaluating app workflows for keyboard access, a clear focus order, meaningful control labels, sufficient contrast, reduced motion, VoiceOver, and Voice Control. People should be able to complete important work without depending exclusively on color or precise pointer movement.

That work has to cover the complete workflow: importing media, reviewing transcripts, choosing clips, editing captions, previewing content, and exporting files.

Some advanced editing, timeline, preview, drag-and-drop, or canvas interactions may not yet offer an equivalent experience with every assistive technology. We have not completed comprehensive VoiceOver or Voice Control verification across the primary workflows. VelaClip is actively assessing these areas and welcomes reports about specific barriers.

Creating accessible content with VelaClip

There is a difference between the accessibility of the VelaClip product itself and the accessibility of videos and other materials that churches create with VelaClip.

VelaClip can assist by providing:

  • Editable transcripts and captions
  • Caption styling and presets
  • Subtitle or SRT export
  • Caption accessibility checks where available
  • Multiple output formats
  • Human review before export

A practical checklist for publishing more accessible video:

  • Review every automatically generated caption for accuracy.
  • Correct names, scripture references, ministry terminology, punctuation, and speaker changes.
  • Include relevant non-speech audio when it is necessary to understand the video.
  • Use readable caption sizes and sufficient contrast against changing video backgrounds.
  • Avoid placing important text underneath platform controls or outside safe areas.
  • Do not rely on color alone to communicate meaning.
  • Avoid unnecessary flashing or excessive motion.
  • Add audio description or an equivalent text explanation when important visual information is not communicated through speech.
  • Upload subtitle files to platforms that support them, even when captions are also burned into the video.
  • Test the finished post on the actual destination platform.

Current limitations

We want this statement to be honest about where the work still is:

  • VelaClip has not yet completed an independent accessibility audit.
  • Testing coverage is still expanding across the website, Help Center, and Mac app.
  • Some advanced editor interactions may be more difficult to use with a keyboard, VoiceOver, Voice Control, or other assistive technologies.
  • Automatically generated transcripts and captions can contain errors and require review.
  • VelaClip does not currently guarantee automatically generated audio descriptions.
  • Older content or materials may not yet meet the same standard applied to newly created experiences.
  • Third-party integrations and external platforms are not fully controlled by VelaClip.
  • The public Help Center is still being built; some documentation is not yet published.

Third-party services

You may encounter third-party services when:

  • Creating or managing an account
  • Accessing the Help Center or in-product support tools
  • Downloading the Mac app
  • Using optional connected AI
  • Following links to social platforms or other external services

VelaClip does not control every part of those services. If a third-party barrier prevents you from accessing a VelaClip service, please tell us. When feasible, we will try to provide another way to access the information or complete the task.

Accessibility feedback and assistance

If you have difficulty using VelaClip or accessing any VelaClip information, please tell us. Specific reports help us understand and address barriers.

Email: hello@velaclip.app

You can also reach us through our contact page.

When you are comfortable doing so, please include:

  • The page, feature, or part of the app you were using
  • What you were trying to accomplish
  • Your VelaClip app version, browser, or macOS version
  • The assistive technology you were using, if any
  • A description of what happened
  • Any preferred way for VelaClip to respond

If you cannot access information or complete a task because of a barrier, VelaClip will work with you to identify a reasonable alternative when feasible.

Assessment and ongoing improvement

VelaClip's accessibility work may include:

  • Automated accessibility checks
  • Manual keyboard testing
  • Screen-reader and macOS assistive-technology testing
  • Contrast and responsive-layout reviews
  • Reviews of forms, errors, media, and downloadable materials
  • User feedback
  • Accessibility review when shared components or major workflows change

This accessibility statement will be updated as VelaClip completes evaluations, resolves significant barriers, or materially changes its products.

Accessibility is part of building a product that can serve the whole church. If VelaClip is getting in your way, we want to know.
